Aurora Interfaith Food Pantry’s mission is to provide access to nutritious food to families in need. However, their team also understands there are many other aspects in which people need support. With rising prices, many households struggle to afford the basics. This year’s Community Baby Shower collected essential items for babies, mothers, and families. Thanks to the collaboration of our team at Gerald Subaru of Naperville and customers, we were able to donate diapers and adult sanitary products that will help to change the lives of those in our community.

Charity Blooms is an organization that recognizes the need for access to healthy and nutritious food. Their work to maintain a community garden in Aurora provides this option to patrons of the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry. Our team came alongside Charity Blooms to support their annual Fund the Farm fundraiser, which allows for crucial improvements to the farm and provides volunteers with proper equipment. Residents and visitors alike fill the streets of Naperville with shamrocks and sneakers for the annual St. Paddy’s Day 5k! This festive experience is a must for hundreds of attendees who visit the city for this fun, all-ages, event. Everyone who attended enjoyed themed refreshments and the opportunity to race decked out in green garb. With Naperville Sunrise Rotary’s support of local charities, the excitement of the day was highlighted by the fact everyone was running for a cause. Our team had a blast and already cannot wait to see everyone next year!

Every year, the Feed the Need MobilePack event turns hunger into hope for many underserved communities across the globe. A constant need for resources to battle hunger is apparent in many places where access to nutrition is often sparse for those who need it. Feed My Starving Children closes the gap by providing life-saving meals for people in all nations. A team of Gerald Employees volunteered their weekend to pack meals, supporting a successful event that provided food to thousands facing starvation.

A Special Place provides community for those in our neighborhood with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The most spectacular of all is the annual theater production, which allows those at A Special Place to shine on stages as they reprise a musical performance.  This year’s Willy Wonka was a sweet treat for everyone who attended, including desserts that were shared with guests. South Suburban Humane Society creates a better world for pets and the people who love them all year round. Our team in Matteson visited the shelter to enjoy an afternoon of helping dogs stretch their legs. Shelter pets have unmatched love and joy to offer to everyone they meet. Staying warm during the winter months is something that most of us take for granted. However, for some of our neighbors in need, the chill of snow and freezing temperatures is something they have to face every day, and often without the proper gear. Our Gerald Subaru teams collected donations of hand warmers over the past month with the help of our customers for people at Hesed House facing homelessness.
